Suzhou GAO Semiconductor Co., Ltd. held its opening ceremony, signed cooperation agreements, and launched new products.

On January 15, 2025, Suzhou GAO Semiconductor Co., Ltd. held a grand opening ceremony in Xinshengli, Suzhou Industrial Park, celebrating its official completion and commencement of production, signing of cooperation projects, and the launch of new products including a 6-inch gallium oxide substrate.

Yang Yongsheng, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Government Office in Beijing; Liu Bo, Vice Mayor of Suzhou Municipal People's Government; Wu Xuxiang, Deputy Secretary-General of Suzhou Municipal People's Government; Ni Qian, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Suzhou Industrial Park; Tang Hao, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Suzhou Industrial Park High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Zone; Pan Yu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Committee of Suzhou Industrial Park; Zhang Shumei, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Suzhou Nanotechnology Development Co., Ltd.; Liu Haixia, Deputy General Manager of Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Reconstruction Co., Ltd.; and Wang Kezheng, General Manager of the Investment Department of Jiangsu Provincial High-tech Investment Management Co., Ltd., and other leaders attended the ceremony. Nearly 100 domestic semiconductor industry experts and entrepreneurs also attended to offer their congratulations.

Suzhou GAO Semiconductor Co., Ltd., formerly known as Beijing GAO Semiconductor Co., Ltd., was established in July 2021 in Huairou National Science City, Beijing. It is a high-tech enterprise focusing on fourth-generation gallium oxide semiconductor technology and products. The company has now fully relocated to Suzhou Industrial Park, and has built over 3,000 square meters of standard cleanroom facilities and over 600 square meters of office space.

Professor Tang Weihua, founder, chairman, and general manager of Suzhou GAO Semiconductor Co., Ltd., delivered the opening speech. Suzhou GAO Semiconductor Co., Ltd. originated from scientific research in the laboratory, was born in the core of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Beijing Huairou National Science City; incubated in the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou Huangpu Science City; and will grow and expand in the Yangtze River Delta, Suzhou Industrial Park. GAO Semiconductor focuses on fourth-generation semiconductor gallium oxide technology and products.

Chairman Tang pointed out that gallium oxide is recognized in the industry as the most promising fourth-generation ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor material, which will give rise to a new industry of first-launch economy and create new quality productivity. Because gallium oxide technology is so important, it has become a focal point of semiconductor technology competition between China and the United States due to mutual embargoes, and is also a science and technology innovation industry project that Jiangsu Province has planned ahead of time.

Suzhou GAO currently possesses the production capabilities for high-quality, large-size gallium oxide single-crystal substrates and epitaxial wafers, advanced high-sensitivity solar-blind ultraviolet detectors, and high-power power electronic devices, as well as the design and manufacturing capabilities for specialized equipment for single-crystal and epitaxial growth. The company is also committed to cooperation and expansion within the gallium oxide industry cluster and supply chain, making it a leading high-tech enterprise in China's gallium oxide industry. The company has received one provincial/ministerial-level award, possesses five core technologies, and holds over 40 invention patents. It has been recognized as a Beijing Zhongguancun High-Tech Enterprise, a Shanghai Zhangjiang High-Tech Park's Most Promising Project, a Suzhou Leading Project Enterprise, and a Suzhou Unicorn Cultivation Enterprise. In 2023, it completed its Series A financing, with all funds used for the construction of the Suzhou GAO plant, equipment purchase, capacity expansion, 4-inch small-batch production, and the development of 6-8 inch single-crystal substrates and epitaxial technologies. Over the next three years, the company will invest another 150 million RMB, primarily for the mass production of 6-inch substrates and 4-6 inch epitaxy, as well as high-sensitivity solar-blind ultraviolet detectors, leading the development of the gallium oxide industry and ushering in explosive growth.

In his address, Ni Qian, member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Suzhou Industrial Park, stated that GAO Semiconductor, as a leading enterprise in China's fourth-generation semiconductor field, possesses originality, leadership, and significant influence in the research and development of gallium oxide materials and related devices. The company has not only been successfully awarded the titles of Leading Talent of the Park and Leading Talent of Gusu, but has also attracted the attention of well-known funds such as Kaisheng Capital and Haitong Securities, with its first round of financing reaching 65 million yuan. In the future, the Park will further promote the integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, continuously create a world-class business environment, and provide stronger policy guarantees and more comprehensive support to fully support outstanding enterprises, including GAO Semiconductor, to accelerate their growth and become stronger.

At the meeting, GAO Semiconductor signed cooperation agreements with seven entities, including Jiufengshan Laboratory, Zhuzhou Keneng New Materials Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Sanyi Youyan Materials Technology Co., Ltd., Chengdu Chaomai Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., China Construction Bank Suzhou Industrial Park Branch, and Ningbo Bank Suzhou Industrial Park Branch, for cooperation in gallium oxide raw materials, crucible mold processing, material and device verification, special equipment development, and bank loan credit.

At the conference, GAO Semiconductor officially launched products and equipment including a 6-inch gallium oxide substrate, a solar-blind ultraviolet focal plane imaging chip, and real-time corona discharge monitoring equipment. This marks a significant step forward in the industrialization of gallium oxide.

Attendees also visited the newly built 3,000-square-meter R&D and production center. They unanimously agreed that the official opening and operation of Suzhou GAO Semiconductor Co., Ltd. will help strengthen and complete the supply chain in the advanced semiconductor materials field of Suzhou Industrial Park, providing stronger support for the high-quality development of nanotechnology applications and new materials industries in the park.
